If someone were watching Mahmudullah for the first time this series, they wouldn’t believe he’s one of the better strikers going around. Bangladesh right now appear a little confused right now about roles and modus operandi. Every series they play in appears to be throwing up a new approach. There was hype around Kieswetter when he appeared in the Champions League. Some of that finally justified today to a certain extent. Could be the missing link in that T20 lineup for the World Cup esepcially given the pitches that have been on show during the ongoing WI-Zim series.

For the neutral viewer, this is one of those bittersweet series to watch – on the one hand, you have the revival of a team that’s been out for a while, but on the other, you have a team that most people like, finding new lows.
Indian viewers will recall Ray Price as the bowler who troubled Tendulkar through an entire test tour of India around a decade back. Price lost a fair bit of international exposure through all these years of problems in Zimbabwean cricket, but since his on-off appearances through last year, something has constantly gnawed away at me every time I’ve watched him. Yesterday midway through the game, it finally came to me – there was this guy at school who insisted on cycling to school every morning and would turn up at the morning assembly all sweaty and pumped up when most were still clearing their morning blues. The only time anyone opted to stand behind him in the assembly line and make small talk was during winter when shaking his warm hands felt good. But then, Price isn’t here to make small talk. He’s here to play cricket and’s doing that pretty well.
